Okay so my mum buys New! like religiously every week and sometimes i have a quick flick through to see if there is anything of interest. Now, i always stop at the music section because i do love my tunes! However, this week i was extremely disappointed and upset on their review of 30 Seconds To Mars new single, Closer To The Edge (check it out if you haven't AMAZING tune <3)
They wrote: "Why do so many actors reckon they'd make rock stars? Take note Jared Leto because your band's new single is a cliched, emo rock-by-numbers mess."
I mean really?! COME ON! 30 Seconds To Mars are an amazing band full of a passion for life and they give so many people hope. Their lyrics actually mean something. They sing about life and its struggles, not about half naked women shaking their junk on the dance floor, saying how you'd love to have sex with them! I mean really?! That isn't life! REAL life is about being strong and making your way through the tough times and not letting anything or anyone get you down.
30STM really bring that across, in alot of their songs in fact. This one in particular is about not letting your self go over the edge, no matter how close you get and not regretting anything you do in life as thats what makes us who we are. Its about not letting people or life bring you down and you living your life how you want. It sends an amazing message out to the world and 30STM songs bring alot of hope to people. Like one of the girls say in the video for this song "Some people pray, i turn up the radio"
Music is a passion for many people and so many of us use it as a release and as our little ray of hope when things get tough.
I can account for this myself. I went through a bit of a rough patch myself not so long ago and if i hadnt have had music to lose myself in i dont know how i would have coped. It may seem ridiculous that i found hope and a bit of love from people i dont even know but it made me feel better about myself when i felt like i had no one esle to turn to.
So, listen to the lyrics of a song before slating it. I mean, really listen. There are so many songs out there with a message and alot of them have made me who i am, and many thousands of others, who they are today.
All my love, N x
