Frikkin' Police!!!

Why in the HELL, are there so many police roaming the streets today!? Aren't we in a "recession" which is really a great depression already? Not only can WE not afford it, I, personally, don't appreciate paying to be harassed.

I can't even properly disrespect the cops anymore because when I see one car drive down the street and I get ready to flip him off long distance or shake my head, I turn my head to the right or left and BAM! another cop car, staring at me, with those evil looking shades.

Don't you hate it when they "shark" you?! They slow down reaaal slow and stare at you... Very creepy and kinda presumes guilt before innocence. Bastards. They know we all can't talk shizz about them because... WE ALL HAVE WARRANTS! Hell, I've got 3 year old warrants for riding a bicycle with headphones on and riding a bike without lights and riding a bicycle while crossing a red light and i'll be DAMNED if i pay them.

This ain't China! No offense my favorite founder of Rantfoo, but jeez louiz! Leeeave me alooone! and For God's sake, DON'T TASE ME!

Don't worry about them too much. I'm sure they mean well. =)

I really hate it when police make a U-turn after they pass me. The action itself sucks even if they aren't pulling me over. The last two times, I was either the only car on the road or with only three or four other cars in the same direction.

First time, the cop followed me and then made a U-turn to pull over someone with no headlights at night. I'm SAFE!

Second time, broad daylight with my front tinted windows and no one else near me. The cop makes a U-turn to follow behind me and then makes another U-turn to go back the way he was going. Awesome.

Though both times, I don't think I was doing anything wrong (minus front tints , they can legally cite you for it) but I just hate when they make U-turns to go in the direction I'm going.

lol. That's what i'm talking about. In Indiana, I could basically do all kindsa stupid crap and get away with it, but here in California, there's 3 cops on every corner and I can't even look at them wrong without them jumping out of the car to get in my face!

I think you're just being paranoid. Just go about your business. Don't mind them. Not all of us have warrants -- I don't ;) haha.

Man, just pay up and free your mind. You shouldn't have broken the law anyway. You could have been hurt while riding a bike with headphones or without lights and crossing a red light -- and guess what? Whoever would have caused your injury would have been affected as well.

This should be a rant in itself, but don't you hate it when people complain about being caught while talking on a cell phone while driving? I HATE THAT! Dang! These people put other people's lives in danger, and then they complain when they get scolded for it! Well guess what folks?!?!! When you're in court and paying your dues from a potentially fatal accident that you could have caused, you'll end up complaining even more! So just be thankful that someone was there to slap you on the wrist before something major could have happened!! Grrrr!!!!!

I don't appreciate anything you said, nor will I accept it or take it into account. As I stated - FOR A REASON - , this isn't china. Because in China, they only have 1 million people in jails, while here, with 1/4th the population, we have 3x's as many, maybe more. Says a lot about the enforcement culture where its necessary for THEIR jobs to continuously search for new avenues of revenue, aka, ticketing people for mundane things, ala, riding a bike with no light, j walking, or some other ridiculous infraction which the constitution was created to prevent against. Unjust, inadequate laws and overtaxation is what this is. Nothing different than what the British did to the colonists, starting the revolution. And while YOU specifically may not have warrants, consider how many in your family or friends do? In Most cities, over 40% of the population of overdue tickets and warrants for their arrest which police usually ignore when they pull you over YET AGAIN unless of course you piss them off. So, NO! I say! To unjust ticketing. Ticket a damn banker with billions of dollars whose daughters drunk driving kills people. Ticket the ponzie schemers. Ticket the loan sharkers. Ticket those who can handle the burden. I can not and will not. And you put yourself on the wrong side of the line when you defend clearly unconstitutional duress.

You're right. This ISN'T China. They have almost 200K people on death row for jwalking. ;) (jk).

Back on topic:

It's inconvenient to NOT j-walk and not right a bike with no light for you and for many people, but laws are in place for a reason. It would be more inconvenient (and emotionally disturbing) for someone who accidentally runs you over (or swerves and causes an accident) because you can't obey a simple law.

No one in my immediate family has an outstanding warrant, and none of my friends have outstanding warrants, fyi.

How is this unconstitutional? Law enforcement officers are just doing their jobs. The last time I checked, states can legally make their own laws as long as they don't infringe on a person's constitutional rights. I don't know about you, but ticketing someone who puts others in danger is JUST. You can safely bet that most laws in place today have not been appealed at federal courts for a good reason -- because they are justifiable.

Think of a world where it's common to jwalk, ride bikes without lights in the dark, and automobile drivers must increase their awareness for inconsiderate bikers with headphones on (who would probably cross the street at points other than a cross walk like jwalkers). Not very good, and not very safe.

If you can't handle the burden for paying your dues for jwalking, you should have walked to the cross walk and not have j-walked to begin with.

1) Lol, you do know that the hammer is a satire, right? Just like the onion. :)

2) I don't think Drachten is representative of many cities in the US. Though, I can understand that having no streetlights would be okay in smaller cities like those found in the western US (except for the western coastal states).

3) If I were you, I would use caution in using sources such as The Economist to support your arguments. The article you cited does not cite its sources for the claims it makes. It's easy to recount the story of Mr. Norris and Ms. Collette, but summarizing their cases without citing sources and the actual court docs is already a sign of trouble. The article doesn't even show the author. What are the author's credentials?

Furthermore, The Economist's editor is from the UK, as are the majority of its "journalists"
From that alone, you know there's got to be some spin on making americans look bad. ;) (jk, no offense to UKers) :)

Ha Ha...I do understand what you are talking about...even though I live out in the middle of no where Nevada....in our town of 2500 people there are almost 5 police per every one person....Ha Ha and they will follow the people in town yet they refuse to pull over those people who blow through our little town at just under the speed of light... I guess they cannot drive that fast so they choose to follow us...Well I feel your pain for the most part..

Haha, I see a lot of cops driving around here too. Feel like I'm in a fish tank with sharks swimming around trying to find it's way in.

This is the one and only comment that I am gonna make on this topic. You are a loser who is going nowhere in life! The need for police in a recession is even greater because there are more desperate jackasses like you who resort to crime to support themself. Get an education and get a job, you stinkin' moron. Do you find it strange that the law abiding citizen never has a problem with police?
