Girl's Advice? (Part 1)

Bored at work so I've decided to rant about how much I don't understand women.

So, first thing, I don't get what girls want in a guy. Are they looking for a thrill? Someone who is exciting, dynamic, and fun to be with? Or is sensitive, nice, and kind enough? I don't get how they expect all these characteristics in just one person. Ladies, what are something that you must have in a bf/fiance/husband? Any traits or something tangible that is considered a deal breaker otherwise?

I know of a few from some women who told me. Not a mommy's boy is popular, along with confident, funny, and smart. No standard answers please, like tall and good-looking.

honestly, the fact is, girls are awful. We will say we want one thing, and get mad that you didn't give us the opposite. Just be who YOU want to be, and the right girl will follow.

Well, obviously, not all girls are the exact same copies of each other, so each one has their own taste. I think most girls look for someone with a sense of humor whose smart, kind, and just fun to be around. But even these traits can be seen differently with different girls. In the end, if your with someone who isn't happy with who you are, it's not going to be a good relationship

It really depends on the girl (like guys, they do not all look for the same thing). Some are very picky (blue-eyed surfer with muscular arms, light hair, wears sandals...) and some are very open. Along those lines, some like dancers, some like gangsters, some like athletic, some like Jewish, some like chubbers, active, chill, some like independent men and some dependent men, controlling, feminine, smart, bad boys, good boys, average joes, suburban guys, guys that are funny, guys that are serious, mean men, tan, pale, twigs, sweet men, indie guys, masculine, emo guys, etc etc etc. As for me, I am one of those with a wide range: anything from drug-selling black-as-night gangsters to computer-savvy white-as-paper shy nerds and in between. Cliche advice: Be yourself. There will be girls that go for people like yourself, guaranteed.

It depends on the girl, obviously. Not all guys like the same girls, so why expect that from girls?
And my boyfriend is all of those things that you said shouldn't be expected in one person. So, you just have to be interesting and dynamic enough to attract the interesting and dynamic girls.
Boring people date other boring people.

you know, things are not complicated if you don't make it complicated....if you decide to live life, then really LIVE it! Don't know what I'm saying but here's the answer to your q my man!!! =D

take my opinion with a gain of salt. i'm super selective and picky and what i want is probably very different from your girl.

what girls want in a guy:
girls are generally very complicated. it's very hard to just sit down and say this or that is what they want.

Here are my answers to your questions from my point of view.

Must have:
If it's a guy I'm planning to marry, I need to be someone very special to him. He's gotta prove his love to me through his actions. I have to be the exception to his rule and he's able to break out of his shell to just love me with all his heart and do things for me that he would never do for anyone else. he has to be able to express his love for me verbally and through his actions because i don't like having to play any guessing games. I have to be able to depend on him regardless of what happens to me. He's gotta be someone very supportive and will love me just as much even if everything in my world went wrong. since i can be very sweet and thoughtful, the guy's gotta be the same for that side of me to come out. if it's a guy that gets approached a lot by girls, he's gotta be someone that's strong enough to not have feelings towards anyone else except for the one he's with.

Possible deal breakers:
i can't stand someone who's not very responsive and takes his time to call me or take action. He should not be okay with being very intimate before marriage. I don't like someone who drinks, smoke or curse when they don't need to.

Here's a song that should describe his feelings for me =)

haha, every guy fits a different girl. not so much we want to be popular to get a girl, rather it's we wanna be ourselves all the time we can when we meet girls that if there is a girl of your type, she would like you. all the rest = temporary

Calai commented on this rant 8 years, 10 months ago.

Man, it's really complicated sometimes.

Personally, I want someone I can be sarcastic, facetious, and playful with but at the same time, someone I know I can trust with my life and someone who can complement my shortfalls (i.e. I'm not AS outgoing as I should be, but perhaps he is moreso). I don't want someone who is exactly like me.

For example, I find intellect insanely attractive, but ESPECIALLY knowledge and intellect in areas that I'm not so sharp on. A non-nerdy science guy is great, but to me, a guy who can master verbiage and has extensive knowledge in the legal, financial, and business profession is REALLY attractive.

Oh, he must also be confident, but at the same time, humble. He has to have a genuinely generous, kind heart, and he shouldn't be afraid to go after what he wants.

I would like a guy who can lead, but at the same time, never forget to value and respect a woman.

I have a good friend who is just like this, and I think it's attractive. Haha.

everyone demands so much now

Calai commented on this rant 8 years, 10 months ago.

Girl, I won't settle for less! lol.

Who_Am_I commented on this rant 8 years, 10 months ago.

Is this friend in a relationship? Ever consider going out with him?

Calai commented on this rant 8 years, 9 months ago.

No he isn't. Sure it has crossed my mind but im pretty content with our relationship now. He is kind of always busy though and he`s quite a long distance away.

elle commented on this rant 8 years, 10 months ago.

When they're young, they want the bad boy type. Fun, outgoing, slightly dangerous, the feeling of protection and safety, while living it up.

When they're older, the biological clock is ticking. They shift to the exact opposite in search of financial security, family(can provide for one, make one), career-goal oriented individuals, irregardless of genuine and sincere unadulterated love. Sorry to say but that's the truth as life portrays it.

Priorities change depending on the "phase."

I'm not a girl but I thought my cynical opinion would be insightful.

Calai commented on this rant 8 years, 10 months ago.

I'd rather marry for love. Of course, I'd like to marry someone who can provide for me as well (although I think I will be very capable of being financially stable on my own..). I don't want to be the one wearing the pants!

elle commented on this rant 8 years, 10 months ago.

I agree but in most real cases it's more common of the cynic way. Such a cynical thing to say. =)

I've always been the girl to go for the bad boy and not because they were mysterious and all that crap, I went for them because they were the ones I always fit in with and the ones who always seemed to need me. In response to their need for me I always felt like I could change them and make them into the man of my dreams (obviously I realized early on that this was an unrealistic desire). In the end I wound up hurt more often then not. At one point I shifted to the nice guys, but wound up being called the "devil" several times s decided to stick to my own. I now found that bad boy/nice guy and he completes me.
As for what I always looked for in a guy it would be someone who could make me laugh, someone I could let the more dorky sides of myself show and not feel self conscious. Finally I learned that for me to find that special man I had to look for what I needed instead of who needed me.
The best advice I can give is don't conform to the ideas of what you think girls want, instead be who you are and that special girl will come along. Otherwise you'll only end up in a string of relationships in which there is no benefit.
